Black Box’s GUP is a two-phase process: precise cleaning, then protection.
Phase 1 — Prep & Wash: We pressure-wash the chassis and underbody to remove salt, mud, and contaminants, then dry with air to ensure proper adhesion. Masking protects rotors, exhaust, and sensitive components.
Phase 2 — Graphite Film Application: Using a graphite-and-oil formulation applied as a uniform spray (not a stream), we treat suspension mounting points first, then coat crossmembers, rails, and exposed hardware. The film helps:
• Resist corrosion from environmental exposure,
• Lubricate contact areas, reducing metal-on-metal noise,
• Protect rubber components (bushings, seals) from drying and abrasion.
We use modern graphite protectants specifically designed for automotive underbodies—not outdated petroleum “petrolizadas” that can deteriorate rubber. The result is a clean, dark protective layer that repels moisture and helps the underside stay quieter and easier to maintain.
Recommended use: Ideal after beach exposure, water crossings, or heavy trail days; frequency depends on usage intensity and storage conditions. (Our team can align it with your preventive maintenance schedule.)
With Black Box GUP isn’t a quick spray—it’s a calibrated protection system. We combine meticulous prep, controlled application (fine mist, correct order of operations), and product choices compatible with bushings and seals to deliver a durable, uniform film. Paired with our preventive checks, your rig leaves protected, quieter, and ready for the next run maintained to Black Box standards, not just serviced.
